Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a Head of Operations to lead and establish a robust operational infrastructure across multiple functions, including IT, project management, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and test operations. This leadership role is instrumental in bridging engineering with execution, ensuring the seamless transition of advanced hardware from design to delivery. With visibility across all technical and operational departments, this is a high-impact role ideal for someone with a proven ability to scale systems in complex, hardware-focused environments.
Key Responsibilities:
● Operational Leadership:
○ Build and oversee a comprehensive operations framework spanning the full product lifecycle—from R&D to industrialization, testing, and delivery.
○ Define and track KPIs, implement SOPs, and streamline cross-departmental workflows.
○ Ensure operational readiness as the organization scales from development phase to customer-ready hardware.
● Program & Project Management:
○ Lead the Project Management Office (PMO), overseeing the execution of internal development programs and external contracts.
○ Standardize tools and processes for scheduling, reporting, and risk tracking across all projects.
● Manufacturing & Test Operations:
○ Expand in-house and outsourced manufacturing capabilities.
○ Supervise propulsion testing operations, maintaining a focus on safety, data integrity, and compliance.
○ Collaborate with engineering to define build and test plans for all propulsion subsystems.
● Supply Chain & Quality:
○ Lead supply chain strategy to ensure a reliable, efficient, and dual-use-compliant system.
○ Develop and maintain a Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with aerospace and defense standards.
○ Ensure traceability and certification for all flight hardware.
● IT & Enterprise Systems:
○ Define and implement enterprise IT systems supporting production, ERP, documentation, and collaboration.
○ Lead selection and integration of digital tools for inventory, compliance, and operational continuity.
Qualifications:
● 8+ years of experience in aerospace, automotive, defense, or high-tech hardware environments.
● Demonstrated leadership across multiple operational areas, with a track record of scaling operations and teams.
● Deep understanding of industry standards and certifications (e.g., ECSS, EN9100, ISO9001, REACH).
● Experience in setting up and managing manufacturing and test environments for hardware development.
● Strong collaboration skills and experience working closely with engineering/product teams in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
● Strategic mindset with a hands-on approach to building scalable systems.
● Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
● Bonus: experience with institutional contracts (e.g., ESA, CNES) or dual-use supply chains.
