Position Overview:

The Senior Flight Dynamics Engineer will design, develop, test, and operate the complete Flight Dynamics suite for various missions, involving complex manoeuvres like approaching, docking satellites, and debris avoidance. The role involves collaboration with global teams and systems, with potential time spent in other client branches and potential relocation and visa sponsorship opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and review flight dynamics requirements for missions.
  • Interface with contractors and design the Flight Dynamics group architecture.
  • Develop algorithms and software for in-house modules.
  • Handle conjunction warning assessment and collision avoidance manoeuvres.
  • Plan, support, and evaluate spacecraft manoeuvres.
  • Support Ground Segment Concept operations and interface with the GNC team.
  • Conduct mission and system analysis studies, prepare technical notes, and review documentation.
  • Perform routine and critical real-time operations.
  • Participate in relative navigation processes and mission operations procedures.
  • Investigate spacecraft anomalies and participate in the resolution process.
  • Participate in 24/7 shifts and on-call rotations to ensure safe operations.

Qualifications:

  • Right to work in the UK and eligible for Security Clearance.
  • Degree in aeronautics, computer science, software engineering, mathematics, or relevant discipline.
  • 5 years of commercial space flight dynamics experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of orbital mechanics, flight dynamics, and simulation software like MATLAB.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Desirable: Security Clearance, advanced degree, proficiency in C++, Java, Python, scripting, Linux, regression testing, version control, GNC, image processing, and flight dynamics design architecture.
