Position Overview:

Our client seeks a System Architect for Quantum Technologies to support the development of satellite-based quantum communication systems. This role involves designing groundbreaking solutions that enhance the European secure communication infrastructure. You will coordinate a multidisciplinary engineering team to integrate quantum and classical communication systems while ensuring compliance with customer requirements and project budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop technical baseline solutions for quantum communication systems.
  • Coordinate system architecture definition, interface and development logic, and performance analysis.
  • Lead design trade-offs across thermal, structural, mechanical, optical, and electrical disciplines.
  • Document system architecture and create specifications for systems and subsystems.
  • Derive security requirements and develop corresponding security concepts.
  • Manage work packages, conduct feasibility studies, and risk analyses.
  • Interface with customers to understand requirements and ensure system compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s or PhD in physics, electrical engineering, computer science, quantum optics, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of quantum mechanics and its applications in communication systems.
  • Several years of experience in system architecture, preferably in quantum communication.
  • Familiarity with modern software/hardware architectures; experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proactive team player motivated to contribute to space-based missions.
