Position Overview:

Our client is seeking a talented CAD Design Engineer to join their growing Engineering team, playing a critical role in the development and delivery of rocket engines. This role requires an experienced CAD Engineer capable of both detailed component design and system-level design. The position demands flexibility and the ability to meet ambitious and often fluctuating deadlines in a dynamic and growing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

● Use CAD software (Creo) to develop detailed designs, models, and drawings of components, sub-assemblies, and the complete rocket engine system.
● Create drawings and designs in line with BS8888 (or equivalent), applying appropriate Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
● Share design work with colleagues, review feedback, and implement design updates as needed.
● Assist in developing prototypes and testing new designs.
● Ensure new designs meet all relevant quality standards and requirements.
● Travel to manufacturing sites and suppliers to gather technical information and liaise with manufacturing and design teams.
● Provide inputs and support for in-house or subcontracted manufacturing activities.
● Resolve or mitigate technical, timing, or cost-related design issues.
● Develop Manufacturing Statements of Work and Standards.
● Support meetings with design engineers and manufacturing teams relating to engine components, sub-assemblies, and the full system.
● Assist with generating Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), Requests for Deviation (RFDs), and Requests for Waiver (RFWs) related to tooling and fixtures as required.
● Participate in customer meetings and formal project reviews (e.g., PDRs, CDRs,MRRs, TRRs, TRBs).

Qualifications:
Essential:

● Degree in Engineering or a relevant technical discipline.
● Practical experience using CAD software, preferably PTC Creo.
● Portfolio or evidence of relevant previous design work.
● Understanding of manufacturing and machining processes.
● Ability to package multiple components into compact systems.
● High attention to detail and accuracy.
● Ability to produce, interpret, and review technical requirements and designs.
● Intelligent, logical approach to problem-solving.
● Thorough understanding of safe working practices.
● Proficiency in common PC-based applications, with knowledge of CAD, LabWorks, and other relevant design tools.
● Effective communication skills for working with various stakeholders, project teams, and customers.
● Ability to work under pressure to deliver high-quality project outcomes on time and within budget.
