Position Overview:

Our client seeks a talented CAD Engineer to join their growing Test team, playing a key role in the design and delivery of tooling, fixtures, and complete test facilities for rocket engine development. This role is essential to ensuring that engines are successfully tested across the four firing sites at Westcott. You’ll work on everything from basic mechanical tooling to full structural and fluidic assemblies using PTC Creo. This is a varied and hands-on position in a dynamic environment, requiring flexibility and the ability to meet ambitious and shifting deadlines while supporting the cutting-edge development of propulsion systems.

Key Responsibilities:

● Create 3D models and detailed technical drawings using PTC Creo for test site operations.
● Design structural and fluidic components, tooling, fixtures, and full assemblies in line with BS8888 (or equivalent) and apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
● Analyse and improve existing CAD designs, supporting continuous improvement of test hardware.
● Participate in design reviews, gather feedback, and implement necessary updates.
● Collaborate closely with Engineering to ensure consistent CAD methodology andconfiguration control.
● Develop and test prototypes, ensuring final designs meet quality and performance standards.
● Provide support to both in-house and external manufacturing teams.
● Resolve or mitigate design and tooling issues related to technical feasibility,timing, or cost.
● Support documentation including Manufacturing Statements of Work,Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), Requests for Deviation (RFDs), and Requests for Waiver (RFWs).
● Participate in meetings with internal stakeholders and customers, including PDRs, CDRs, TRRs, and MRRs.
● Travel to supplier and manufacturing sites as needed.

Qualifications:

Essential:
● Degree in Engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
● Hands-on experience with CAD software (preferably PTC Creo).
● Solid understanding of manufacturing and machining processes.
● Proven ability to apply GD&T and produce production-ready drawings.
● Portfolio of relevant design work.
● Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret complex design requirements.
● Logical, structured approach to problem-solving.
● Excellent communication skills; comfortable engaging with cross-functional teams and customers.
● Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word & Excel).
● Commitment to safe working practices.
● Ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
