Position Overview:

Our client is seeking a Technical Architect to join their Ground Segment Team. This role is critical to ensuring the architecture is in place to drive forward our missions and help make space safer and more sustainable for future generations. The Technical Architect will work closely with the Chief Engineer, taking ownership of delegated responsibilities to ensure timely and ambitious delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Make technical decisions for projects, acting as the first point of contact for ground segment technical queries.
  • Define and document multi-mission support Ground Segment design and interfaces.
  • Collaborate with the Ground Segment Group Manager to define and document the ground segment roadmap, ensuring feasibility and coordination with projects and finance.
  • Resolve technical problems, breaking down issues into manageable parts.
  • Oversee technical development and implementation in project reviews.
  • Ensure quality standards and procedures across engineering, reporting overall progress to the Engineering Director.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Experienced people manager.
  • Expertise in the development and design of ground segments and systems.
  • Systems architecture experience at the spacecraft level.
  • 10-15+ years' experience in relevant areas.
  • Experience in delivering long-term complex projects and programs.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Resilient, results-driven, curious, and a problem-solver.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to act as a role model for Astroscale's culture.
  • Experience with Ground System Architecture, design, implementation, and verification.
  • Knowledge of C++ and/or Java programming languages.
  • Familiarity with ECSS and CCSDS.
  • Basic Linux system administration and development on Linux systems.
