Position Overview:

Join our client’s Thermal team as a Thermal Systems Engineer, where you'll be instrumental in spacecraft-level thermal design and analysis for missions across Low Earth Orbit, Geostationary Earth Orbit, and interplanetary missions. This role offers a dynamic opportunity to drive the development and implementation of Thermal Control Subsystems (TCS) from concept through to launch and operational life. You will be responsible for delivering practical thermal solutions within budget and on schedule, while collaborating closely with other technical leads to achieve innovative project goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and manage spacecraft-level TCS, including detailed thermal analysis and system/subsystem interfacing.
  • Oversee implementation and testing activities of the TCS, ensuring alignment with project requirements and timelines.
  • Capture and define requirements, and deliver a comprehensive thermal solution that integrates with project specifications.
  • Perform cost, risk, schedule, and performance trades, managing hardware selection and subsystem integration.
  • Plan, conduct, and verify thermal vacuum tests, ensuring accurate test planning and execution.
  • Interface with internal and external customers, managing subcontractors as required and supporting project work packages.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of company standards and work practices, demonstrating effective problem-solving and adaptability.
  • Maintain detailed technical documentation and ensure the quality of deliverables under tight deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • A good degree in Engineering or Physics, or relevant vocational qualifications with practical experience in thermal design and analysis for the space industry.
  • Familiarity with thermal analysis tools such as Thermica, Sinda-G, and ESATAN is advantageous.
  • Experience with both active and passive TCS hardware, and planning and supporting thermal vacuum tests.
  • A strong understanding of space missions and systems, with experience in interfacing with various disciplines including Mechanics, AOCS, Propulsion, AIT, and Operations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, demonstrate creativity in problem-solving, and adapt to changing priorities.
